      Waterfox（直译：“水狐”）是一款自由且开源的网页浏览器，为Firefox的分支版本。主打以用户为中心并强调性能与隐私[1]。Waterfox提供适用于Windows、macOS、Linux与Android的官方版本[2][3][4]。该项目于2012年建立，当时Firefox仅提供32位版本，因此Waterfox提供了官方64位支持[5]。

      Waterfox与Firefox共享核心功能与技术，例如Gecko浏览器引擎以及对Firefox附加组件的支持[6][7]。同时亦兼容于Google Chrome与Opera的扩展[1]。Waterfox默认停用Firefox版本中存在的遥测功能，但仍会收集设备的技术信息，以利更新运作[5]。

      Waterfox Classic[编辑]

      Waterfox Classic曾是Waterfox的版本之一，基于较旧版本的Gecko引擎，支持旧版XUL与XPCOM附加组件功能，而这些功能已在Firefox 57版本中移除[8][9]。该版本透过Waterfox与Firefox ESR版本中的修正与补丁进行部分维护。然而，由于Waterfox后续变更导致兼容性下降，因此开发被分离[10]。随着其于2022年11月发布最后一个公开版本，截至2026已实际停止开发。

      安全漏洞[编辑]

      Waterfox Classic存在多个未修补的安全性公告。开发者表示“不同ESR版本之间的变更相当繁多，使得合并修补变得困难，甚至几乎不可能做到”[11][10]。

      Waterfox最初由Alex Kontos[12][5]开发，并于2011年3月27日首度发布于64位Windows平台。macOS版本随着38.0版本的发布并于2015年5月14日推出[13]，Linux版本则于2016年12月20日随50.0版本推出[14]，而Android版本则于2017年10月10日随55.2.2版本首次发布[15]。

      2015年7月22日至2015年11月12日期间，Waterfox推出名为“Storm”的搜索引擎，用于为慈善机构及Waterfox本身筹集资金。Storm由超过200万英镑的投资资金开发，并由Yahoo! Search提供支持[16][17][18]。

      2019年12月，专注于隐私的广告公司System1收购Waterfox[19][20][21]。2023年7月，Alex Kontos宣布Waterfox再次成为独立项目[22]。

      该浏览器的Android版本于2023年11月透过Google Play Store发布[23]。

      2025年4月，Waterfox推出一款隐私友善的元搜索引擎，使用Google搜索结果[24]。
