| 苏州，简称苏，别称吴都、吴门、姑苏、平江，吴文化的发祥地与中心，自2500年前建城以来，其规模位置迄今基本未变。苏州位于长江三角洲和太湖平原的中心地带，东接上海，西抱太湖，南连浙江，北枕长江。苏州长期为江南地区的经济、文化中心，也几度成为政治中心。现在，苏州是江苏省经济最发达、现代化程度最高的城市，其经济总量全省最大，是全省经济、对外贸易、工商业和物流中心，也是重要的金融、文化、艺术、教育中心城市和交通枢纽城市。
苏州处太湖平原，沿江为高沙平原，河湖密布，素有“鱼米之乡”之称。苏州四季分明，气候温和，雨量充沛，平野稻香，碧波鱼跃，农副物产十分丰富，人们传诵的“近炊香稻识红莲”、“桃花流水鳜鱼肥”、“夜市买菱藉，春船载绮罗”的诗句，就是历代诗人对苏州物产富足的赞美和讴歌。在世人的心目中，苏州就是“鱼米之乡”的代名词。 我们非常欢迎您参与与苏州相关条目的编写。 |
