      Waterfox（直譯：「水狐」）是一款自由且開源的網頁瀏覽器，為Firefox的分支版本。主打以使用者為中心並強調效能與隱私[1]。Waterfox提供適用於Windows、macOS、Linux與Android的官方版本[2][3][4]。該專案於2012年建立，當時Firefox僅提供32位元版本，因此Waterfox提供了官方64位元支援[5]。

      Waterfox與Firefox共享核心功能與技術，例如Gecko瀏覽器引擎以及對Firefox附加元件的支援[6][7]。同時亦相容於Google Chrome與Opera的擴充功能[1]。Waterfox預設停用Firefox版本中存在的遙測功能，但仍會收集裝置的技術資訊，以利更新運作[5]。

      Waterfox Classic[編輯]

      Waterfox Classic曾是Waterfox的版本之一，基於較舊版本的Gecko引擎，支援舊版XUL與XPCOM附加元件功能，而這些功能已在Firefox 57版本中移除[8][9]。該版本透過Waterfox與Firefox ESR版本中的修正與修補程式進行部分維護。然而，由於Waterfox後續變更導致相容性下降，因此開發被分離[10]。隨著其於2022年11月發布最後一個公開版本，截至2026已實際停止開發。

      安全漏洞[編輯]

      Waterfox Classic存在多個未修補的安全性公告。開發者表示「不同ESR版本之間的變更相當繁多，使得合併修補變得困難，甚至幾乎不可能做到」[11][10]。

      Waterfox最初由Alex Kontos[12][5]開發，並於2011年3月27日首度發布於64位元Windows平台。macOS版本隨著38.0版本的發布並於2015年5月14日推出[13]，Linux版本則於2016年12月20日隨50.0版本推出[14]，而Android版本則於2017年10月10日隨55.2.2版本首次發布[15]。

      2015年7月22日至2015年11月12日期間，Waterfox推出名為「Storm」的搜尋引擎，用於為慈善機構及Waterfox本身籌集資金。Storm由超過200萬英鎊的投資資金開發，並由Yahoo! Search提供支援[16][17][18]。

      2019年12月，專注於隱私的廣告公司System1收購Waterfox[19][20][21]。2023年7月，Alex Kontos宣布Waterfox再次成為獨立專案[22]。

      該瀏覽器的Android版本於2023年11月透過Google Play Store發布[23]。

      2025年4月，Waterfox推出一款隱私友善的元搜尋引擎，使用Google搜尋結果[24]。
