Dem Jointz自幼便对音乐展现出浓厚兴趣，并曾在当地的教会里打鼓。[3][6]
Dem Jointz 曾公开分享追寻音乐梦想时所面临的挑战。由于家人期望他能接受高等教育，并从事稳定、传统的职业，他刚上大学时原想成为一名建筑师，但最终为了专心做音乐而决定辍学。在职业生涯初期，他以微薄的价格出售自己制作的伴奏（beats），例如曾以800美元卖给饶舌团体 The Comrades；这次经验让他更有信心，相信音乐能成为维持生计的长久职业。当时，他努力在音乐梦想与全职工作间取得平衡，还曾任职于电信公司 AT&T Wireless。直到2005年遭到解雇后，他才下定决心全职投入音乐事业。[7]
他的成长环境充满了双重性：既有街头生活的影子，又深受教会的熏陶。他的父亲曾参与帮派，后来却转变为一名牧师，这对他的成长与性格发展有着深远的影响。这样的背景深深烙印在 Dem Jointz 身上，也让音乐成为他生命的核心基石。他很早就开始培养自己的音乐技能，除了在教会打鼓，也私底下尝试饶舌创作。[7]

在全职投入音乐事业前，Dem Jointz 曾在一家电信公司任职。2005年，他意外遭到解雇，这个转折反倒成为他全心追求音乐事业的契机。[3]
2015年，他受邀成为Dr. Dre旗下厂牌Aftermath Entertainment的专属制作人。同年，他参与了 Dr. Dre 第三张专辑《康普顿》（2015年）中四首歌曲的制作；该专辑阵容星光熠熠，合作歌手包括史努比狗狗、肯德里克·拉马尔与阿姆等巨星。[6]

大约在同一时期，Dem Jointz 开始在K-pop界崭露头角。他首次跨足 K-pop 领域的重要作品，是为 Red Velvet 首张录音室专辑《The Red》（2015年）制作了收录曲〈Don't U Wait No More〉。该曲的成功促成了他与韩国大型唱片公司SM娱乐的长期合作关系。随后，他为 EXO、NCT 127、aespa、BTS、TXT 及 IVE 等知名团体打造了多首热门单曲。其中，NCT 127 的〈Cherry Bomb〉获《告示牌》与 Idolator 评选为2017年最佳 K-pop 歌曲之一；EXO 的〈Obsession〉获《告示牌》评为年度最佳 K-pop 歌曲；而 aespa 的〈Supernova〉更是在韩国音乐排行榜上缔造了霸榜11周的惊人纪录，并勇夺MAMA大奖的年度歌曲殊荣。[10][11][12]

要辨识阿伯纳西的制作作品，可以留意他极具代表性的制作人标签。他经常在歌曲开头加入一句标志性的“Incoming!”人声，例如肯伊·威斯特的单曲〈Nah Nah Nah〉。[13]另外，在歌曲即将进入桥段（Bridge）前，他也常使用另一个专属标签“Now, the breakdown”，这点在太妍的〈Something New〉以及李彩演的〈Hush Rush〉等作品中都能听见。
