书本装订是人们将一叠有序的纸张组合成一本书籍的过程。人们会把纸张的一边垂直于书皮放置在书皮正当中，之后通过穿针引线将纸张和书皮缝合起来（线装书、和装本），或是在纸张的一边涂上黏合剂（胶装），再垂直放置在书皮上。此外还有其他装订方法，例如在纸张的一边穿孔，然后套在活页夹中，或是给穿孔的书皮和纸张套上圆环（圈装）。[1]
