心盲症

心盲症(英语:Aphantasia),又称幻像可视缺失症想像障碍[1]是指无法进行视觉想像的状态。[2]受影响者无法在脑海中想像一幅视觉画面。很多受影响者同时不能回想起任何气味、声音、触感。其中一些更表示自己不能辨认人脸[3]

法兰西斯·高尔顿于1880年首次描述这种现象[4],不过它在之后一直受到研究者冷遇。2015年,亚当·赛曼(Adam Zeman)等人就着此现象发表了一份研究,随即引起关注[5]。他们同时把此一状态命名为“aphantasia”(心盲症)[6]。有关心盲症的研究仍然很少[7][8]

“Aphantasia”由古希腊语前缀“a-”(ᾰ̓-,没有)及单词“phantasia”(φᾰντᾰσῐ́ᾱ,想像)所组成[9]

法兰西斯·高尔顿在1880年一项有关心像社会统计调查中首度描述此一现象[4]。他表示此一现象在其同事当中颇为常见[10]。它在之后一直受到研究者冷遇。2005年,埃克塞特大学的教授亚当·赛曼找到MX这个受心盲症影响者;MX在接受一次小手术后,丧失在脑海中形成视觉想像的能力[11]。他之后连同其他学者一起为MX进行个案研究,有关结果在2010年发表[12]。在研究发表后,一些人便跟赛曼联络,对之表示自己一生内都无法进行任何视觉想像。赛曼等人在2015年发表了一篇论文,于当中把上述情况称为“先天性心盲症”[5]。此一论文令不少人对心盲症产生兴趣[6]

2016年8月,Firefox的最初开发者之一布雷克·罗斯发表了一篇短文,于当中表示自己患有心盲症[13]。这篇短文随后在社交平台和各大新闻媒体上广泛流传[14][15]

评估[编辑]

赛曼等人[5]视觉心像鲜明度量表英语Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire(VVIQ)去量度21位自评受心盲症影响的人和志愿参与者的心像质量。这份问卷邀请当事人想象一系列的图像(比如某位亲戚、太阳升起的情境、他们认识的商店),然后让其以1至5分去评估自己的想像有多生动——1分代表“完全没有形成图像,你只知道自己在想着这个对象”,5分则代表“栩栩如生,如见真章”。若16道问题加起上来不过20分,即被视为受心盲症影响者[16]

研究[编辑]

赛曼等人[5]所研究的对象虽不能自主进行视觉想像,但他们在做梦等不随意的情况下,仍能形成视觉图像。

另一项研究[17]认为,额叶参与了视觉皮层感知表征反馈联系活动;受心盲症影响者则可能在此一联系上出现缺陷,使得他们的视觉皮层不能够被激活,最终无法产生视觉想像。

2020年的一项研究结论道,受心盲症影响者对于其他感觉的想像能力同样低下,此外他们的自传式记忆也较为不生动[18]

除了先天因素外,也有因脑部受损或心理原因而造成心盲症的例子[19][20]
