原矛头蝮属（学名：Protobothrops）蝰科蝮亚科的一属，主要分布于南亚、东亚及东南亚等地区。
分类建立[编辑]
本属部分物种原属于广义的竹叶青属 Trimeresurus (sensu lato)。1983年，巴西学者阿方斯·理查德·霍格（Alphonse Richard Hoge）和罗马诺－霍格（Sylvia Alma Renata Wilma de Lemos Romano-Hoge）夫妇根据原黄绿烙铁头（Trimeresurus flavoviridis）、菜花烙铁头（Trimeresurus jerdonii）和烙铁头（Trimeresurus mucrosquamatus）的皮纹和骨骼特征，建立了 Protobothrops 属。本属的主要特征是“具有长形、一般无齿的腭骨；上颌骨颊窝边缘没有突起；外翼骨前外侧不宽大；隅骨与夹板骨分离”。[1]本属建立后，不少学者从形态和分子方面对部分物种的系统学关系和分类地位进行了探讨。通过对线粒体ND4基因序列分析，显示本属为单系。[2]
