原矛頭蝮屬（學名：Protobothrops）蝰科蝮亞科的一屬，主要分布於南亞、東亞及東南亞等地區。
分類建立[編輯]
本屬部分物種原屬於廣義的竹葉青屬 Trimeresurus (sensu lato)。1983年，巴西學者阿方斯·理查德·霍格（Alphonse Richard Hoge）和羅馬諾－霍格（Sylvia Alma Renata Wilma de Lemos Romano-Hoge）夫婦根據原黃綠烙鐵頭（Trimeresurus flavoviridis）、菜花烙鐵頭（Trimeresurus jerdonii）和烙鐵頭（Trimeresurus mucrosquamatus）的皮紋和骨骼特徵，建立了 Protobothrops 屬。本屬的主要特徵是「具有長形、一般無齒的齶骨；上頜骨頰窩邊緣沒有突起；外翼骨前外側不寬大；隅骨與夾板骨分離」。[1]本屬建立後，不少學者從形態和分子方面對部分物種的系統學關係和分類地位進行了探討。通過對線粒體ND4基因序列分析，顯示本屬為單系。[2]
