ISO 3166-2:TW是用來定義台湾子行政区代码的國際標準化組織標準。它是ISO 3166-2的子集，範圍是中華民國目前實際控制的領土（臺澎金馬），即新北市、臺北市、桃園市、臺中市、臺南市、高雄市等直轄市與臺灣省、福建省[1]下各縣市。

ISO 3166的国家与地区目錄中（ISO 3166-1），臺灣地區在中华人民共和国之外另行登记，有三種名称：

短名 Taiwan, Province of China Taïwan, Province de Chine 臺灣，中國的省 ISO英法文名有逗號，近似聯合國統計局（英语：United Nations Statistics Division）只限用於統計目的所叫的“中国台湾省”不用逗號[4]

本地短名 Taiwan Taiwan 臺灣 未指明屬於誰

在ISO 3166-2:CN（即“中华人民共和国”一级行政区目录）中，台湾以“臺灣省”的名义被列其中的CN-71，2017年11月23日改成CN-TW，從而使台灣以中国一部分的名义同時出現於ISO 3166-1及ISO 3166-2[5][6]。

不同於ISO 3166-2:TW，中華民國政府採用的臺灣地理區碼有：

格式[编辑]

  • 每一代碼由ISO 3166-1代表臺灣的代碼（TW）和一個三個字母的地區代碼組成，用連字號連接。
  • 代碼被分類為縣（county; comté）、市（city; ville）、直轄市（special municipality; municipalité spéciale）三類。
  • 臺灣以「中國的一省」的名義，被另行編入ISO 3166-2:CN中，代碼為CN-TW。

The organizers of the 16-team tournament intended to call Taiwan as such, but reverted to "Chinese Taipei" under pressure from PRC. The ROC protested the decision, claiming that the WBC is not an IOC event, but did not prevail. The ISO 3166 directory of names of countries and territories registers Taiwan (TW) sepeartely from and in addition to the People's Republic of China, but lists Taiwan as "Taiwan, Province of China" based on the name used by the UN under PRC pressure. In ISO 3166-2:CN, Taiwan is also coded CN-71 under China, thus making Taiwan part of China in ISO 3166-1 and ISO 3166-2 categories.
