魏安（英語：Andrew Christopher West，1960年3月31日—2025年7月10日[1]）是英國語言學家。1983年至1988年間在倫敦大學亞非學院和北京語言學院學中文。1988年從倫敦大學畢業後赴普林斯頓大學讀博士，研究《三國演義》的版本為論文主題。1993年至1996年間在耶魯大學東亞系任助理教授。1996年回英國，1997年至1998年間在亞非學院圖書館編輯馬禮遜藏書書目。其後退休。
研究成果[編輯]
魏安早期專門研究明清小說，對《三國演義》的版本進行了全面、細緻的研究，提出新的方法來分析各個版本的關係，從而推斷《三國演義》的原來面貌。[2][3]魏安曾為英國傳教士馬禮遜的共893種、約一萬冊中文藏書編纂目錄[4][5]。
他後期的研究轉向中國少數民族語言文字，尤其是遼、金、元三朝的文字。他曾提出八思巴字編碼方案[6]，經過中國、蒙古及外國學者的研討合作八思巴文於2006年收入Unicode 5.0版。
他還參與制定了UCS的遊戲和音標符號編碼，還為西夏文和女真文編碼方案作了貢獻。

軟件作品[編輯]
魏安還為Windows作業系統編寫軟件和製作字體，包括BabelPad和BabelMap。
BabelPad是一款具有字符輸入和統一碼等價性與標準化文本轉換等功能的Unicode文本編輯器。[7]BabelPad亦支持其他文字編碼，且內置了中文、蒙古文、滿文、藏文、維吾爾文和彝文輸入法，此外還能通過十六進制代碼點值輸入單獨的Unicode字符。[8]
BabelMap是一款支持全部Unicode區塊和字符的字符映射應用程序，內置拼音檢索、部首檢索等中文輸入輔助工具。[9]
逝世[編輯]
魏安於2025年7月10日因心臟病去世，享年65歲[10]。
