槭樹科原為無患子目下的一個科，包括2-4屬，約120餘種，大部分為喬木，也有部分種類為灌木。單葉對生，無托葉；花單性或兩性，排成花序，輻射對稱，5－4數；果實為翅果。[1]
槭樹科和無患子科親緣關係較近，《2003被子植物APG II分類法》將槭樹科和七葉樹科都合併到無患子科中[2]。
