巴西异鳞石首鱼为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲈亚目石首鱼科的其中一种，分布南美洲各大河流流域，体长可达80公分，栖息在溪流，属肉食性，以鱼类、昆虫、甲壳类等为食，可做为食用鱼及观赏鱼。
