沙鳅科（Botiidae）是鲤形目下的一科，原被归类在鳅科（Cobitidae）下的沙鳅亚科，于2012年由Maurice Kottela将本科从鳅科中独立出来[1]，主要分布在南亚、东南亚及东亚淡水、半咸水域。自然分布区北至黑龙江，东至日本南部，西至巴基斯坦，南到爪哇岛[2]。沙鳅科鱼类体型比鳅科鱼类健壮，背部或多或少成拱形，吻尖，体长6至30公分之间。
