詹姆斯·哈登 FRSE（英语：James Hutton，1726年6月3日—1797年3月26日)，苏格兰地质学家、医生、博物学家、化学家、农学家。[2]他的理论主要是关于地质学和地质时期，包括了火成说和渐变论。哈登的理论为现代地质学的发展奠定了基础，因而常被称为“现代地质学之父”。[3][4]

1726年出生于苏格兰爱丁堡。毕业于爱丁堡大学，巴黎大学和莱顿大学。
