JOE，或Joe's Own Editor，是一個基於ncurses的UNIX系統文本編輯器，在GNU通用公共許可證下可用。它被設計成易於使用。[2][3]
JOE 可用於大多數主要的Linux 發行版，[4][5][6][7][8][9]BSD系統[10] [11] [12]和macOS（通過比如像Homebrew的包管理器）。

JOE 包括一個集成的幫助系統，並且總是在屏幕上提醒如何獲得幫助。JOE 中的鍵序列與WordStar和Turbo C的鍵序列相似：許多是Control 鍵和另一個鍵的組合，或者 Ctrl+K 和另一個鍵的組合，或者Escape 鍵和另一個鍵的組合。許多設定也可通過 Ctrl+T 進行。該程序通常可以通過一個配置文件進行定製，它支持多種流行文件格式的顏色語法突出顯示，這一功能也是可配置的。
JOE 安裝硬鏈接和一組rc 文件以將 JOE 配置為模擬Emacs鍵綁定（當作為 jmacs 調用時）、Pico（當作為 jpico 調用時）或 WordStar（當作為 jstar 調用時）。還有一種稱為「rjoe」的變體，以限制它只可編輯命令行上指定的文件，這對於強制執行最小權限原則很有用。
