Euler是由尼克勞斯·維爾特和赫爾穆特·韋伯（Helmut Weber）共同創建的程式語言，它被構想為ALGOL 60的延伸與泛化[1][2][3]。
設計者們的目標是創造一種具備以下特性的語言：
- 比ALGOL 60更簡潔，但同時更具靈活性。
- 實用，且能以合理的效率進行處理。
- 能夠用嚴謹的形式化方法進行定義。
Euler語言在1965年之前就已經投入運行。
