貘（ㄇㄛˋ）屬（學名：Tapirus），為奇蹄目貘科^[4]的一屬，統稱貘，又寫作獏，屬大型林棲植食性哺乳動物。現存四種，即山貘、南美貘、中美貘和馬來貘，前三種均產自美洲，僅馬來貘產自東南亞^[5]。此外又有一種在2013年命名的卡波馬尼貘，分佈於南美洲，一度被視為現存的第五種貘，但其獨立物種地位一直廣受爭議，後來的遺傳學研究表明卡波馬尼貘實為南美貘的一部分，並非有效物種^[6]。傳統上，現生貘類都被歸入貘屬（Tapirus）^[3]，但也有學者將馬來貘另置於單獨的馬來貘屬（Acrocodia）^[7]。

形態習性[編輯]

貘生活在靠近水源的低地到山地森林中，獨居而無固定領地，善於游泳和潛水。牠們身軀肥碩，四肢較短，尾極短小，體型似豬而略大，是南美洲現存最大的原產哺乳動物；保留著奇蹄動物前肢四趾、後肢三趾的原始特徵，趾尖具蹄甲；牠們最為顯著的特點是有一條突出的鼻子，能用以抓握樹葉輔助進食，並能在游泳時充當呼吸管的作用^[8]。

貘發源於漸新世的北美洲，現存親緣關係最近的動物是犀牛和馬，並與犀牛尤為親近，二者及其史前近緣類群共同組成奇蹄目下的角形亞目^[9]^[10]。

分類[編輯]

在2013年描述卡波馬尼貘的論文中，研究者透過對現生貘類粒線體細胞色素b 基因序列的分析，指出南美貘、山貘和卡波馬尼貘這三種現代南美貘類中，卡波馬尼貘是最先分化的一支，而山貘則被嵌套在南美貘之內，若山貘作為獨立物種自南美貘中移除後，將使南美貘成為並系群^[11]。同時分子定年方法測得卡波馬尼貘在65.2萬—28.8萬年前與南美貘和山貘組成的演化支分化，中美貘在755萬—316萬年前與三種南美貘類分化，馬來貘則在1270萬—560萬年前與其他所有現生貘類分化^[11]。
