NGC 7479，也称为科德韦尔44，是位于飞马座，距离大约1亿500万光年的一个棒涡星系。它是威廉·赫歇尔在1784年发现的，超新星SN 1990U和SN 2009if都出现在NGC 7479。NGC 7479也被辨识出是一个西佛星系，在核心和外面的旋臂都有星爆活动[2]。偏振光的研究显示这个星系刚经历一次小型的合并，是唯一发出连续无线电波的星系，并且旋臂开口的方向和光学臂的方向相反[3]。
