translatewiki.net是一個基於網路的翻譯平台，搭載了MediaWiki的翻譯擴充，使得MediaWiki成為強有力的工具來翻譯各種文字。

就頁面數而言，目前它是世界第13大wiki[1]，擁有約6000名譯者[2]及來自超過20個專案的50000頁面[3]，其中包括MediaWiki、OpenStreetMap、Mifos、網路生命大百科及MantisBT。

功能[編輯]

translatewiki.net是一個wiki站點，因此任何網路使用者都可以很方便地作出貢獻，而幾乎無障礙[4]。譯者可以專注做他們最擅長的事——翻譯，沒有其它煩惱，從而確保了翻譯的品質。

翻譯立即對譯者可用，並會流暢地同步版本控制系統和可翻譯的wiki頁面[5]，無需譯者的干預。在最好的情況下，對於維基媒體計劃使用的MediaWiki，新的在地化內容在一天之內就能同步至網站上。

翻譯編輯器提供了各種電腦輔助翻譯功能，如

  • 訊息文件，也稱為「上下文」，
  • 來自語料庫和機器翻譯的建議，
  • 檢查翻譯中常見的語法錯誤，
  • 訊息的翻譯狀態。[6]

translatewiki.net在2006年6月左右由Niklas Laxström開發[9]，作為MediaWiki所有語言的在地化平台，當時被命名為Betawiki[10]。

除了翻譯，它還兼為MediaWiki的整合式開發環境（2005年的Nukawiki[4]），著重於改善國際化功能[11]。

2007年底，Siebrand Mazeland加入管理網站，此時站點被移動到了當前的域名translatewiki.net上。

2007年11月，德國虛擬主機服務商Netcup代管了translatewiki.net。[12]

2008年4月，它已為MediaWiki及其200個擴充提供了超過100種語言的翻譯，「使之成為有史以來翻譯最為完全的軟體專案之一」，同時還有FreeCol。此後，雖然是一個獨立的志願者專案[13][14]，普遍認為它在很大程度上促成了MediaWiki全球性的成功，以及基於此的維基媒體基金會專案如維基百科，其提供了超過280種語言的版本[15]。

2009年，Niklas Laxström的Google編程之夏專案協助改進了此站點[16]。2011年引入了校對功能[17]。2012年，其為所有維基媒體計劃的翻譯啟用了翻譯記憶庫引擎[18]。

2013年，「翻譯使用者體驗」（Translate User eXperience）專案，又稱「TUX」，對翻譯平台進行了巨大革新，其中包括「導航工具列、編輯區外觀和感覺、翻譯區、過濾器、搜尋、色彩與風格上的改變」[6]。
