This template is used to generate [[Wikipedia:Citing sources|references]] or [[Wikipedia:External links|external links]] to the ''[[World Register of Marine Species]]'' (WoRMS). It uses {{tl|cite web}} to produce the output, and passes the publisher to that template automatically. It also contains a table of database names, to save the user from entering the database's title and editor(s). Typical usage would be:

For an entry that is part of one of the named databases in WoRMS, the additional <code>db=</code> parameter is used:
:<code><nowiki>{{cite WoRMS |author= |year= |title= |id= |access-date= |db=}}</nowiki></code>
Where the entry is not in one of the names databases, <code>db=</code> can be omitted. The <code>title=</code> field should contain Wiki-formatting for italics, as appropriate. To use the template to generate an entry in the [[Wikipedia:External_links#ELCITE|external links section]] of an article, omit the <code>access-date=</code> field. If the <code>author=</code> field is missing or empty, a default author of "WoRMS" will appear.

For cs2 style citations, use {{para|mode|cs2}}:
